After US President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning travel to the US from 7 countries, Google has recalled travelling staff back to the United States.
Google has said they are concerned that the order could hurt their ability to attract talent in the tech industry.
In total, they have recalled about 100 individuals.
The executive order, which Trump signed on Friday, is in keeping with his campaign promise to institute “extreme vetting” of individuals from countries “prone to terrorism.”
The reaction to the law has been divisive, with many calling it the “Muslim Ban” that Trump proposed early in his campaign.
It should be noted however that while the ban applies to 7 majority-Muslim countries, it does not ban travel from nations such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates – all Muslim-majority countries.
Additionally, the ban does not apply to Indonesia – the world’s largest Muslim nation. So in that respect, it is not specifically a Muslim ban.
