Horrific reports of death, torture, and suffering
A new report has revealed a massive amount of secret executions in a Syrian prison run by Bashar Al-Assad’s regime.
The report, titled ‘Human Slaughterhouse,’ shares horrific details of what took place at Syria’s Saydanaya Prison.
It is estimated that between 5,000 and 13,000 people were secretly hanged.
Those executed got ‘trials’ lasting 2-3 minutes before they were killed.
The report estimates that thousands more died from starvation and torture.
As detailed in the Guardian, between 20-50 people were killed per week after sham trials. Then, their cause of death was listed as heart failure or respiratory disorder.
Said Nicolette Waldman – the author of the report, “There is no reason at all to expect that the hangings have stopped. We believe it is very likely that the executions are going on to this day and that many thousands more people have been killed.”
Waldman also noted that the Syrian Minister of Defence signed off on the death warrants, implicating the regime directly in the killings.
Overall, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a minimum of 60,000 people have been killed from terrible conditions or torture in Syrian prisons.
Time for safe zones in Syria
The innocent people of Syria deserve to live in safety. But obviously we can’t just let that country empty out and have everyone flee to other countries.
Syria’s problems need to be fixed in Syria.
That’s why the western world should use our air dominance and carve out safe zones in Syria. Clear out areas of Syrian regime and ISIS forces, then establish no-fly zones to build refugee camps where people would be safe and protected.
That is the best path to stopping the horrible human slaughterhouse taking place in Syria, and ending the refugee crisis at the same time.
