French Prosecutor says Ziyed Ben Belgacem was planning serious attack
Further details have emerged of the moment Paris-Orlais Airport attacker Ziyed Ben Belgacem was shot and killed by French soldiers.
Belgacem reportedly held one of the female soldiers and held an air pistol to her head. He then screamed, “Put down your guns. Put your hands on your head. I am here to die for Allah. In any case, there will be deaths.”
After this threat, Belgacem was shot and killed by the French soldiers.
Belgacem had tried to grab the female soldier’s weapon – a Famas rifle (pictured below).
According to French Prosecutor Francois Molins, Belgacem was planning a serious attack. “Given the violence that is shown in the (CCTV) pictures … you sense that he was determined to go through with it. Everything leads one to believe he wanted to seize the Famas so that there were deaths and then to fire at people.”
Reuters reports that French police found 750 Euros in cash and a Koran on Belgacem’s body. After inspecting his home, police fund a machete, cocaine, and foreign currency.
Belgacem’s father, brother, and cousin are now in police custody.
While there is no word yet on whether Belgacem pledged allegiance to ISIS, his words leave no doubt that he was motivated by a radical Islamist ideology.
That same horrendous ideology has claimed over 230 lives in France during the last two years alone.
The attacks, and the ongoing failure of the French political establishment to stop them, has boosted Marine Le Pen – leader of the National Front Party – who has pledged a much tougher response than that being offered by the French elites.
As a result of the war being waged against them, France has remained under a state of emergency since November of 2015.
