Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou Faces Fraud Allegations, Government Seeks To Keep Her In Custody

Meng is seen as a flight risk by authorities.

The Canadian government is seeking to keep Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou in custody, saying she poses a flight risk due to her lack of connections to Canada and her ‘access to vast resources.’

Meng faces charges of defrauding numerous financial institutions by using a subsidiary of Huawei to violate sanctions on Iran.

Allegedly, Meng claimed that the subsidiary – Skycom – was separate from Huawei – which was not the case.

The allegations against Meng have not been proven in court.

The charges Meng is facing, and fears over Huawei’s infiltration of networks in democratic countries, is fuelling calls for a ban on Huawei.

China has registered an Official Protest over this, and has warned there WILL be consequences. Canadians visiting China had better be very careful until this is settled. I get a laugh over Justin Trudeau claiming he knew nothing about the impending arrest of Meng. If so, someone is negligent in NOT telling the PM of a serious situation like this!
Maybe he’s just lying,he’s good at that.

Trudeau is staying awfully quiet about this. Wonder what he is up to?
After all he loves China’s dictatorship.
