RCMP Make Two Arrests In Anti-Terrorism Investigation

Operations are ongoing say the RCMP.

Two people in Kingston have been arrested by the RCMP in connection with a ‘national security operation.’

According to reports, the RCMP has been working with the FBI and Kingston Police.

More arrests could be possible.

A press conference will be held on Friday where the RCMP say they will give more details to the public.

The RCMP shared minimal details on Twitter:

“The #RCMP can confirm we have made two arrests today in #Kingston. Operations ongoing. More information to follow tomorrow.”

Here’s what Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said in a statement:

“The government of Canada constantly monitors all potential threats and has robust measures in place to address them. Canadians can be confident that whenever credible information is obtained about a potential threat, the RCMP, CSIS and other police and security agencies take the appropriate steps to ensure the security of this country and the safety of its citizens.”

Reports also indicate that the RCMP arrests are linked to a national security investigation that featured a Pilatus PC-12 RCMP surveillance aircraft that had repeatedly circled Kingston in the past few weeks.
