VIDEO: Bernier Discusses Views On Free Speech

People’s Party Leader discusses issue of ‘free speech’ and letting candidates express themselves with Don Martin.

Maxime Bernier, Leader of the People’s Party of Canada, recently spoke to Don Martin to discuss his views on ‘free speech vs hate speech.’

Bernier was asked about controversial statements allegedly made by some candidates, and pushed back, noting that it’s important for people to be able to express themselves, and that the government should not be adding more restrictions on free speech.

He also criticized the justice committee for striking some of Conservative MP Michael Cooper’s remarks from the official record.

We have a lot of problems in this country and if we don’t reform and fix them fast, we’ll lose our cherished liberties one by one. Some conspiracies are NOT theories. How else do you explain the reckless, divisive and destructive actions of our government? They are accountable to someone, but clearly not us Canadians.
