WATCH: Andrew Scheer Unveils Cyber Security & Data Privacy Plan

Conservative Leader says he will establish a cabinet committee devoted to cyber security and data privacy for Canadians.

With a majority of Canadians having been exposed to data breaches in the past year, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has unveiled his plans to address the growing issue.

In a Montreal speech, Scheer said he would “establish a Cabinet Committee on Cyber Security and Data Privacy,” bringing a new level of attention to a problem that is only set to grow as more of our information is stored digitally.

“As Prime Minister, I’ll establish a Cabinet Committee on Cyber Security and Data Privacy and conduct quarterly cyber security testing on all departments. Unveiled this plan at @chambremontreal today.”

Scheer’s full speech was posted on Facebook, and you can view it below:

“It’s about time the federal government did something to protect Canadians’ information online. I’m speaking to members of the Montreal Chamber of Commerce and outlining my cyber security plan. I’m also discussing how a Conservative government will live within its means and put more money in your and your family’s pockets, so that every Quebecer can get ahead.”
