Earlier, the Conservatives announced that one of their candidates would be making an announcement on Justin Trudeau’s past behaviour.
That announcement turned out to be Conservative candidate Abdul Abdi calling on Justin Trudeau to fire candidates Judy Sgro and Jaime Battiste:
“If Justin Trudeau is truly sorry for the hurt he caused, he will not tolerate those who make a mockery of his blackface apology. That is why Conservatives are calling for Justin Trudeau to fire Judy Sgro and Jaime Battiste.”
Most notably, Sgro had made the absurd claim that Black Canadians “love” Trudeau because Trudeau wanted to “have a black face.”
Battiste has also made many comments that were widely condemned.
