Petition Against Liberal Assault Rifle Ban Surpasses 100,000 Signatures

A clear expression of the will of many outraged Canadians.

Parliamentary Petition e-2341 has now surpassed 100,000 signatures, making it one of the most-signed House of Commons petitions of all time.

The petition is a clear expression of the many Canadians who oppose the Liberals proposed ‘assault rifle’ ban. The Liberals are clearly launching an attack on law-abiding Canadian firearm owners, while ignoring the real cause of the crime surge in Canada – gangs and weak politicians.

You can read the text of the petition below:

Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
  • The Government of Canada has expressed its intention to ban, what it refers to as “military-style assault rifles”, through an Order in Council;
  • Public Safety Canada’s information notes this is not a legal definition in Canada;
  • The use of an Order in Council is an egregious overreach of executive authorities, bypassing the democratic process of the House and the elected representatives of Canadians;
  • This executive order would strip law-abiding Canadians it has approved through the RCMP Canada Firearms Program, of their legally purchased property;
  • The use of an Order in Council ignores the Government’s survey on firearms where “the majority of respondents did not support further limiting access to firearms & assault-style firearms”;
  • The proposed buyback of legal, licenced firearms could cost the Canadian taxpayer over $250,000,000 which could be better spent on initiatives that have an appreciable positive impact on public safety such as: deter youth from gangs, addiction treatment, mental health, strengthened border security, and increase police anti-gang capacities;
  • An Order in Council ban on “military-style assault rifles” would fail to take firearms away from criminals; and
  • A ban would unfairly target Canadian firearms owners who are already among the most vetted in Canadian society. Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) and Restricted PAL (RPAL) holders are subject to daily screening and are statistically proven to be less likely to commit crimes than non-PAL & non-RPAL holders.

We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to put any new firearms laws, bans, buyback programs or changes to licencing before the House of Commons to be debated.

Seems to me that – under Trudeau – we ARE falling rapidly and headlong into a Communist regime.
But at least he has nice hair, right, you Liberals ?

1. If your Government says you don’t need a gun, you need a gun.

2. When any nation mistrusts its citizens with guns, it is sending a clear message that it no longer trusts it’s citizens because such a government has evil plans. – George Washington.

3. I have no problem with vigorous background checks on firearms. None. While we are at it, apply the same checks to migration, immigration, and voter picture ID. This should also be applied to the relationships some politicians have with terrorist-related organizations.

Liberals are like communist they will take all the guns away so they can become real dictators.
They will use any excuse to grab more power.It is nothing about protecting the public.It is all about grabing more power.If they realy care about us they would be talking about bringing the standard of living up ,and not giving our tax money away and then taxing us more.

This Lazy, Corrupt Government hasn’t been stopping the root of the problem since they first became our Corrupt Majority Government. They are just as Corrupt as the Gangs, and Criminals who have been getting these guns. Criminal Trudope and his Criminal Cronies have been too soft on Crime and it is time that they are brought to justice! Criminals are attracted to Criminals. These criminals have been getting away with murder for some time. Canadians have had ENOUGH! Trudope Must GO NOW!

Lets see what the bill says and what is in it. I don’t like some Tories support the idea a vetted civilian should be able to own whatever firearm they chose, I believe some weapons are simply too dangerous and should be banned outright. Vetting does a good job of screening people but it is not full proof so with every weapon we need to look at cost vs. benefit and decide accordingly. Some like full autos, a complete ban makes sense. For handguns and semi-autos there are strong arguments on both sides although I prefer an outright ban or… Read more »

Miles thanks for your sharing thoughts on the proposed Motion In Council by the GOC proposing to prohibit the firearms described. I appreciate the effort and thoughtful nature of your post. I would like to address some of your points above but need to understand your technical knowledge regarding firearm legislation and rules first, so we can communicate efficiently. With that in mind my question is do you currently hold a PAL for a firearm and are you a firearm owner yourself?

Thanks

Ron

Everyone needs a “rainy day” gun. If we can own them and use them legally everyone will be safer for that. They will not go away by making them illegal. Confiscate them and they will be replaced. If we review our history of gun control, those deprived of guns by armed police and military, (for example the Warsaw Ghetto of World War Two, will still find ways to acquire them, often at the expense of those government agents and contractors who are armed. Guns are a fact of life. Accept it and get over it.

Grab the Torch:

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
