There is clearly a growing sense of fear in China, as one city after another is locked down.
A Tweet from Lijian Zhao – the Deputy Director General of the Information Department in China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs – is raising some eyebrows.
China is an officially atheist state, and usually seeks to downplay or outright suppress any expression of religion or religious-like sentiment.
Which is why many were surprised to see Zhao’s Tweet, where he asks people to “pray for Wuhan and China.”
“We are racing against time. The 1st building of #Wuhan’s #Coronavirus hospital, Huoshenshan hospital, was completed in 16 hours. China Construction which built the hospital is the same company which built the Multan-Sukkor Motorway and the Centaurus. Let’s pray for Wuhan & China!”

This Tweet, along with the increasingly desperate quarantine measures, is leading many people to believe that things are far worse on the ground than authorities are letting on.
