Quebec Banning All Indoor Events Of More Than 250 People

Province also says people returning from overseas should self-isolate for two weeks.

Quebec is imposing social distancing measures, in an attempt to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.

The province is banning all indoor events of more than 250 people.

Additionally, everyone travelling from abroad is being encouraged to self-isolate for two weeks.

The St. Patrick’s Day parade has been cancelled.

Those who can work from home are encouraged to do so.

Here’s what Quebec Premier Francois Legault said:

“We need to delay the contagion. The next few weeks will be critical, and our goal is to slow the propagation of the virus as much as possible.

I know I’m asking a lot. But if we want to succeed, I need the help of all Quebecers — not to travel anywhere, not to go to a show, a hockey game. It’s a major change, but this is very critical. When we see what happened in Italy, for example … I think people can understand it’s for the best of all Quebecers that I’m asking.”
