“High Negligence & Incompetence”: Trudeau Government Ripped For Giving A Bunch Of Canada’s Personal Protective Equipment To China

And now, Canada is facing shortages of that very same equipment.

The Trudeau Liberal government is facing growing anger for their decision in early February to give China a whopping 16 tonnes of personal protective equipment to Communist China, even when it was obvious that Coronavirus would be a threat to Canada.

The criticism is even seen among individuals – like professor Amir Attaran – who generally spend more time attacking Conservatives.

According to a Globe & Mail article, here’s what Attaran said:

“It was absolutely certain in early February that we would need this equipment,” he said. “This decision went beyond altruism into high negligence and incompetence because Canada did not, and does not, have surplus equipment to spare.”

Some of the very equipment Global Affairs shipped to China is in high demand in Canada, from masks to other protective gear.

Think about that:

“Canada did not, and does not, have surplus equipment to spare,” yet Trudeau gave it away to China anyway.

The government claims that China is sending equipment back, but – as noted by the report – “It’s uncertain yet whether the Chinese government will make a similar donation of medical equipment to Canada in return. The Globe and Mail asked the Chinese embassy in Canada on Tuesday whether Beijing planned to send masks, medical ventilators or COVID-19 test kits to Canada but did not receive a response.”

In total, the Trudeau Liberals gave away over 50,000 face shields, over 1,100 masks, over 1800 goggles, over 36,400 medical coveralls, a stunning 200,000 nitrile gloves, along with 3,000 medical aprons.

Now, Canada is running out of that same equipment, as countries around the world impose export bans, meaning it’s very tough to buy it back.

If Canada had successfully contained the CCP Coronavirus outbreak – like Taiwan did by shutting the borders early, banning flights from China, and implementing ruthless airport screening – it may have been possible for us to help others.

But, because the government failed to do that, instead letting endless flights enter Canada and letting the virus spread into and then across our country, we can’t afford to be sharing equipment.

By putting political correctness and virtue-signalling ahead of Canada’s national interest, the Trudeau government has put even more Canadian lives at risk.
